The fact is that it is essential to keep your employees motivated. Motivated employees are more likely to deliver better results. Moreover, they tend to be more productive and creative.
That is certainly beneficial to the success of the company. On the other hand, most employers do not have a proper understanding of how they can keep their employees motivated.
Whereas research has shown that employees who feel valued can make a huge difference in the company’s overall performance.
There is a diverse range of steps that you can take to keep your employees motivated. Here are some of them.
- Understand their Motivators
The fact is that not all employees can be motivated in the same way. Some employees are more likely to be motivated when their efforts are recognized while others tend to be motivated when they are given responsibilities suited to their skills.
As such, you need to understand the motivators for each of your employee. It will take some time but you should find out what drives each of your employees. Ask them how you can make them more excited about their job.
Based on the feedback, you can take the necessary steps to improve employee morale and motivation levels.
- Reward Them
Your employees can work extremely hard when required. However, in many cases, their efforts go unrewarded and, sometimes, unrecognized.
This certainly affects their motivation levels. As such, you should do your best to reward them for their hard work and contributions.
There are quite a few opportunities where rewards can be given. Example of such is the successful completion of a difficult project, or when you notice an exceptional effort made by a team member or even a situation where all the employees worked well as a team.
The reward can simply be a letter or mail where you express your appreciation.
- Encourage Teamwork
One of the best ways to motivate employees is to encourage teamwork. It feels great when you see that everyone’s efforts and yours are coming together to a successful completion.
A team can boost up the morale and motivation of an employee when it begins to fall. Team members keep each other encouraged and push each other to new successes.
As such, consider your work environment. Find and develop ways to encourage teamwork.
- Give Gifts
There is no shortage of occasions where you can give gifts. A gift on a happy occasion serves as a reminder to the employees that they are valued and cherished.
It also makes them feel that they belong to a team. From the company Foundation Day to Christmas to Diwali and more, the calendar has several days where gifts can be given.
These days, you have many choices before you when it comes to gifts. Choosing the right gift for your employee is vital if you want them to appreciate it.
- Have fun
Sometimes it is vital that you break the normal routine and give employees a chance to loosen up and have some fun with their colleagues.
You can have a small informal get together at the end of the work week. If you have the time and budget a small outing can also be planned.
The basic idea is at any such event the employees get a break from the roles they play and interact with each other in a relaxed and casual setting. This would boost their morale and also bring them closer as a team.
