Being average isn’t sexy. We all strive to become better at each moment. To an extent, we go ahead to note it down in our to-do-lists, tell everyone about it and then, we don’t work upon it.
It is one thing to find all the things which you want to excel upon — but it is an entirely different thing to approach it with a mindset to succeed and become a top achiever. Most of us fall into the trap of seeking easy ways out.
Yes — we want to be the best, have loads of cash, and go for cool vacations. But then, we refrain from doing the hard work — day in and day out.
We want some secret from the people at the top. We want to skip the line and reach the height with the minimalist work possible.
That’s how most of us are bound to think. I will cut the chase for you — you won’t get to your goals this way.
The only success which you will get by finding all the shortcuts is in your mind.
Some shortcuts do exist, though — but they are ones associated with tools. For instance, you can use “X” editor to improve your writings. However, there isn’t a shortcut for becoming a better writer.
How do top achievers act?
You need to pick your skills. You may be good enough in many skills, but you’ll definitely be best at some skills.
For example, as a chef, you have to be good enough at presenting, but you have to be best in cooking delicious meals. Another example — In dancing, you need to be good enough in choosing attire, but best in your craft.
This is the first step. Second is the not so sexy, boring, and rewarding experience.
Every day you need to keep on working, learning and becoming some inch stronger. Day by day, you need to show up and do your work.
You won’t become a top achiever by doing this instantly. But by doing this, you show the traits of an upcoming top achiever.
When most successful people reveal that it’s sheer hard work that got them to their level, many people discard it in disbelief.
The success recipe is so simple — yet many of us ignore it.
In real essence, this is the golden recipe:
- Work on your craft
- Improve at a steady rate and,
- Grab opportunities that come your way.
Behavior of a Top Achiever
You can be and arrogant, rude, and a bad person and still rock the success chair when you put in work.
On the other hand, sometimes success speaks louder and we tend to behave badly, with no respect and in pride. You can choose how you showcase yourself.
This isn’t directly related to the amount of success you have. It is related to the human soul inside of you.
Respect people — it doesn’t take lots. Don’t undervalue someone — you never know how much work they’ve put in like your earlier self. Instead, give them a helping hand — If you had gotten some help earlier, wouldn’t you have appreciated it?
Embrace the struggles and be a human at heart. It makes you a good human being.
No amount of success will make people talk to you respectfully. You have to earn it with your behavior. Plus when you do it often, you will see people in their humble nature and more work and success will come in your direction.
Brush off any ego that builds up in your heart. If needed, try meditating. Do some yoga. Opt in for healthy food recipes. Keep your mind open and embrace the world with a heart full of joy and happiness.
How to achieve more success
When you have drained all your energy and got the highest success you have been dreaming of — then what next?
Where do you go from there? Is it enjoying the moment and spending cash, vacations or something else?
Turns out even if you were to go on vacations and enjoy the moments – you will feel bored because of the certainty of the business or your success measure. There won’t be any scale for you to look for.
After all, you achieved what you aimed for, right?
Yes, in essence. However, you can scale things — by getting mentored by a MENTOR. Find one and take lessons about life, your business and anything which you want to further improve.
One mentor a year drastically changes the business you thought had a dead end. Or sometimes, they help you take your life to unimaginable level when you thought nothing great could happen.
That is how you scale your business, life or anything for that matter. A mentor has more years of experience and vision than you can accumulate.
What to do now
- Identify the skills you need to become good enough. Work on them consistently to improve.
- Discover the skill which you need to become an expert. Enroll in a class.
- See someone, whom you admire, and ask them for help till you can pay them for dedicated personal mentorship.
The key is to take action each and every day. Don’t wait for months or years. Just today, what have you done that will take you a little closer to your goals?
